The previous day we had participated in the Jewish Passover at the regional house of Consolata sisters, which Fr. Ottone Cantore had presided. The two communities (Allamano House and Consolata sisters) having made a tradition to be celebrating the Passover in either of the community’s residence but alternating year after year, this time it was in the Consolata sisters’ residence.
On 20th March we participated in the Chrism Mass at the Holy Family Basilica, a Mass which was presided by Cardinal Njue. Friday saw us leaving to our pastoral place. This meant leaving the community that day to go to where we usually work on weekends, and staying there for all the liturgical ceremonies of one of the Holy week. It was on Sunday 23rd afternoon when we returned to Allamano House tired, but happy that we had seen the power of God among his people. Though fatigue could almost literary be seen hanging on peoples’ shoulders, we took the opportunity to celebrate the birthdays of all our confreres, which had fallen between January and March for we had not been celebrating them due to lent fasting. Unlike other birthday celebrations, this time there was no much pomp. There was even no blaring music, which had become characteristic of those birthday parties. It was however beautiful to sit together and share during this period of Easter.
