According to the government the flu infection level is increasing “rapidly”, quite a high number for a population of 2.7 million
The Government warned the public to stay alert especially the infants, elderly people and those who have previous records of tuberculosis, respiratory diseases, and pregnant women.
Responding to the government’s declaration of 14-day high state of alert, the Apostolic prefecture of Mongolia, Msgr. Wenceslao Padilla, made an announcement especially to those in charge of Mission works like parishes, schools, social centers, and the like to suspend the activities for two weeks as directed by the Government.
The bishop advised to use Mouth masks often if not always.
Due to these serious measures put up by the government to control the spread of the INFLUENZA A [H1N1] virus in the whole country, the community gathering on Sundays for worship (Sunday Masses) is also suspended.
In Ulaanbaatar, the Capital city of Mongolia, a home of over a million residents, food stores, supermarkets, and restaurants are working normally.
Generally the people living in Mongolia foreigners or non foreigners are worried of this rapid spread of H1N1 pandemic flu whereby over 630 people are tested infected. The only hope of the people is up to December this year when the WHO is scheduled to supply H1N1 vaccine to Mongolia.
The people in Mongolia are united in prayer invoking the Divine intervention that the effort each one is making makes it possible to curb the spread of the virus.
The Consolata Missionaries working in Mongolia are so far in good health. For the sake of preventive measures some are following the advice of the Bishop to use mouth masks often.
