WORKING GROUPS - ONGOING FORMATION.
From Wednesday 6th of June, at the invitation of the General council, a group of twelve Consolata missionaries from Asia, America, Africa and Europe, of different ages and working in diverse missionary realities are meeting in Rome together with the general council to relfect, and share various experiences and perspectives about the ongoing formation. There work, together with the general council is to organise the courses on the "ongoing formation" for the next six years.
In his opening remarks to the group on 7th June in the morning, The General Superior Fr. Stefano Camerlengo said that the XIII General chapter had identified the ongoing formation as one of the priorities on which the entire institute has to commit itself for the next six years. Making reference to the Acts of the XIII general Chapter about the Renewal and revitalization of our Institute as Consolata Missionaries Fr. Stefano underlined three important aspects: the centrality of Christ in our life, the person of the the missionary and the mission. He also said that one of the weaknesses that has been experienced in the Institute for the last few years has been lack of active participation in the "ongoing formation" courses organized by the general Council. He insisted that the ongoing formation is a continous process that shouldn't stop after the conclusion of the basic formation. He also said that the ongoing formation should help every Consolata missionary to renew himself and live his Missionary life with zeal and committment.
In the afternoon the group met with Fr. Mario Llanos a Salesian of Don Bosco, an expert in methodology to help them define better the objectives, the contents and the methodology so that our courses on the ongoing formation maybe better organized and focused. After the meeting with Fr. LLanos, the missionaries divided themselves in two groups. The first group is reflecting and organizing the ongoing formation course for the formators. The second group is reflecting and organising two ongoing formation courses: the fisrt course is for the Consolata Missionaries who are celebrating the 25th anniversary of religious profession or priestly ordination and the second course for the Consolata Missionaries who are celebrating the 50th anniversary for religious profession and 50 years of priestly ordination.
The two groups are meeting every day in the morning and afternoon to reflect, research and share on how to prepare and organise better the ongoing formation courses for the next six years.
We are also convinced that the heart of revitalization of our Institute lies in the human and spiritual renewal of every Consolata missionary. The revitalization of the Institute can not be achieved if, at the core of the process there is no effort to change things from within. Revitalization as underlined in the Acts of XIII general Chapter should transform us into Consolata missionaries who are zealous and enthusiastic to announcd the Good News. It can only be done by a missionary who: deeply feels the urgency of changing oneself in order to change community where he lives and, consequently, the Institute, so as to recover fidelity to our Charism as Consolata missionaries consecrated for Mission ad Gentes.
For the moment, we kindly request each one of you to accompany us with your prayers so that Holy Spirit may guide us in this noble task. May God bless you.
